Ward representatives from Matungu, Mumias East and West sub counties have accused Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya for sidelining their areas when it comes to development.

The legislators led by Namamali Ward representative Kelvin Olengo, George Mulama of Koyonzo and Philip Rupia of Etenge ward, have denied allegations that they have given Road contracts to their allies.

Olengo blamed Oparanya for neglecting the plight of Matungu people while developing other constituencies saying Oparanya is bitter since he never got votes from Matungu people in the last general elections.

Olengo dismissed Oparanya’s claims that Matungu and Mumias leaders had rewarded road congrats to their relatives and supporters.

Earlier on governor Oparanya had accused MCAs from the Kakamega county of corruption citing Matungu sub county as the most notorious.

He said, “Oparanya is in fact the one interfering with road contracts, he has rewarded his close cronies to develop few constituencies sidling Matungu Sub county since he is still bitter he was never voted in Matungu.”

He warned governor Oparanya over neglecting specific areas in Kakamega saying he will be judged the coming race.

The legislators appealed to Oparanya to stop making bilateral decisions, asking him to cooperate with all Kakamega leaders to enhance development.

Speaking to www.westfm.co.ke, Olengo stated that Oparanya will again get blackout in Matungu if he doesn’t change, claiming that Matungu people have never benefited from Oparanya’s regime.

“It is a pity that the governor can talk ill of Matungu leaders yet, people in Matungu have not gotten anything from his state, he is just developing other sub counties which is against the constitution.” Olengo added noting that Matungu people regardless of weather they voted him or not are entitled to development.

The outraged Mca’s now wants Oparanya to apologize to them lest they martial up other leaders to send him home in the coming general elections.

Olengo who led the onslaught against Oparanya, stated crystal clear that the governor must start up multi billion Projects in Matungu before the coming elections if he wants votes.

Rupia and Mulama called for a joint working relationship between them and the governor for the County to realize tangible development
