Officers from Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) from Eldoret have arrested twelve Trans Nzoia County officers over graft allegations.

Leaders from the region lauded the arrests terming it the best way forward and wanted EACC to go for the big fish in the county as the ones arrested were junior officers who might have done the vice in conjunction with their bosses.

Trans Nzoia county MP Janet Nangabo commended the arrests and appealed to EACC to get deeper and apprehend the major partakers, who she said have been involved in major scandals which has fleeced the county’s taxpayers money.

She said several funds have been used poorly by governor Khaemba’s administration and there have been complains over the same.

She has called for more thorough investigation of several officers so that they save the tax payers money that she claimed has been used poorly by the county administration.

Several residents also commended the arrests saying it was the best way to handle graft and appealed to those arrested to carry their own cross and be ready to face corruption charges against them.

Led by the local businessman Arnold Anami, the locals complained of rampant graft cases in Governor Khaemba’s administration who they termed has been laced with corruption and asked those arrested to vacate offices with immediate effect.

Governor Khaemba has in the past meeting, held at Cherangany accepted claims of corruption officers in his county where he said he had relieved some officers off their work due to corruption.

He said that following corruption cases especially in Roads and Health ministries, he has decided to procure some tracks that will be used for road construction stating that this will minimize thefts that has been going on.

The county government of Trans Nzoia has been grappling with corruption with the county boss Patrick Khaemba promising to end the vice which has eaten into the wealth of the county.
