A middle-aged man from Shamberere village Malava constituency identified as Muganda is being held at Malava police station after allegedly stabbing his brother known as Shitanda to death over a trouser and a cap.
Muganda is said to have attacked his brother Tuesday evening, at the Kambi ya Mwanza market centre when he saw him wearing the clothes leaving him with serious stab wounds sustained from a knife he was attacked with.
Shitanda was rushed to Malava hospital where he succumbed to the injuries sustained.
The family is trying to come to terms on how to plan for two burials as they were preparing for the burial of their grandmother who had died earlier.
Speaking at their home, the brothers aunt Mrs. Jennifer Khasiro Yohana said that the fight ensued after the victim left the house with a trouser and a cap said to belong to the suspect.
“We heard that the two brothers fought and Shitanda was rushed to Malava hospital where he succumbed from the injuries sustained from knife stabs.” said Mrs. Jennifer Khasiro.
Sentiments echoed by the uncle of the brothers Mr Richard Otiende Yohana saying Muganda was angered by his brothers move to take his trouser and a cap triggering the fight that no one would intervene.
The family is now at crossroads on how to arrange for two burials since the grandmother of the two brothers passed on last Saturday and burial arrangements were still underway.
“I was the one taking care of these boys after their father died. I don’t even know how I will arrange for these two burials,” said Mr Otiende.
The body of the victim has been moved to Kakamega County hospital mortuary.
