Police officers at Lumakanda station have arrested four suspects with more than 700 litres of illicit liquor following an early Thursday morning raid.
Confirming the incident, Lumakanda Officer Commanding Police Station (OCS), Mr. William Oyugi, said that the four suspects, who are from different homes, were netted at Munyuki Rail B village On Thursday early morning packing 700 litres of kangara and 40 litres of chang’aa liquor into containers.
“My office acted swiftly on a tip off from a concerned area resident which led to the arrest of the four,” said Oyugi who led his troop to the scene of the Thursday morning raid.
The police officers poured several litres of the illicit brews.

The OCS has sternly warned the locals living in Lugari Sub County against brewing and consumption of the illegal liquor.
“Munyuki, Lumama and Lugari are among the notorious villages where the rate of brewing and consumption of kangara and chang’aa is high,” noted the police boss, who vowed not to relent on the war against illicit liquor.
The suspects, Mrs. Leonida Aluka, Muliro Mugaisi, Caleb Waita and Mohammed Abdul, had already been taken to a court in Eldoret by time of going to the press.
A fortnight ago, the OCS had led a night raid at Lugari Station village, where three people from one family were arrested with more than 800 litres of illicit brews which was nabbed.
