Nominated senator Paul Njoroge has urged Kenyans to stop focusing on the political train of 2022, reiterating his statement made before, and instead to focus on the upcoming 2017 general elections first.
He also criticized the deputy president for carrying on with his controversial remarks of late, “It has been President Uhuru Kenyatta’s desire and prayers to see to it that all people including those from Western join and benefit from various projects that the government has launched,” he said, “It is therefore unfortunate for any political leader regardless of his status to make outrageous remarks that are likely to go against the same spirit that the president and jubilee is working towards,” he added, in reference to the deputy president.
He cited previous remarks from the deputy president, that were not appealing, “A case at hand is when he was in South Rift and said that Gideon Moi is loitering with some Luhyas,” he said.
The statement comes at a time when CORD Principal Raila Odinga is on a tour of Western Kenya, following the uncertain political atmosphere that lingers over the region.
The nominated senator was quick to point out that he had nothing against the deputy president, “It is unfortunate that it came from the deputy president, whom by the way I have nothing personal against him,” he said.
He was quick to congratulate the leadership of New Ford Kenya, led by Governor Ken Lusaka for announcing that their party would be dissolved to join the Jubilee party, and thanking a number of politicians who he thinks have shown their political maturity amidst the political turn tables, adding that they have a great future as far as Kenyan politics is concerned.
Away from the political narratives, the nominated senator called upon transport authorities and Kenyans to tighten the noose when it comes to road safety and management.
“I want to call upon relevant authorities and Kenyans at large to ensure that everyone is safe on our roads,” he said, “It’s unfortunate that we have lost more than 30 people for the last one week on our roads. These are breadwinners for various families.”
