Residents of Chesuwe village in Emgwen constituency, Nandi county, together with their leaders led by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter on Tuesday gathered in solidarity to condemn and curse the brutal killings of two kids, a boy and a girl who were found murdered in cold blood in Kapsaiya forest, Nandi East.
The residents assembled at the grounds to curse the killers and everybody who had a hand and information on the murder but had decided to keep silent.
The ceremony was led by the council of Elders from Nandi community who unanimously condemned the murder saying the suspects will be brought to book after the curse.
Addressing the crowd, Nandi hills MP Alfred Keter demanded the security team in Nandi to speed up the investigations into the matter and bring to book the killers whom he claimed to be many.
He asked the area residents who might in one way or another have information concerning the murder of the two kids to come out without fear before Tuesday night and reveal it for their safety because if they continue keeping silent the curse will be upon them.
The MP asked the residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi Initiative by ensuring they know those who live around them because security starts with each person individually.
He said the Eastern Produce of Kenya (EPK), who are in charge of the Kapsaiya forest, have agreed to chop trees down in the forest for the safety of the residents as people are murdered and dumped there.
The bodies of the two kids Gilbert Kipng’etich and Joan Cheptum aged twelve, were found in the forest brutally murdered after being raped and sodomized.
The two were standard two pupils at Chesuwe primary school.
The girl was raped, strangled, her leg and arm chopped off and her eyes plucked out while the boy was sodomized, strangled and his eyes pierced through.
The body of the girl was found last week, after a dog gingerly carried her amputated leg and arm to the deceased family, while that of the boy was retrieved Monday after a three day search in the forest.
One of the murder suspects has been arrested and is being held at Kapsabet police station for further interrogations while others are still on the run.
The bodies are at Kapsabet Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
