A family of four has been left stranded after the husband demolished their house and left to stay with another wife.
Speaking at the remains of the house, the wife Virginia Mwangi said that her husband Benedict Wanjohi, a retired KDF police whom she has stayed with for more than 20 years, came home last year and married another wife, whom he is currently staying with.
“He started conflicts and stopped providing for the family,” she said.
She revealed that her husband mistreated her and their four children whenever she complained about his behaviour and even went a notch higher by stopping to pay their school fees and to provide food.

Virginia recalled an incident when Benedict turned against his son, who questioned why he was not providing for them, and took him to police station over false charges that led to his jail term at Kitale prison to date.
She said that they are stranded with no where to go given that their house was demolished and her husband left with other items including her clothes and other valuables that they invested much in purchasing.
Virginia pleaded to well wishers to help her find a shelter as well as the Government to compel her husband to provide for the family as it is suffering.
Her daughter, a form three student at Kitale School, gave an account of how their father has been mistreating them by not been providing for them as well as failing to pay their school fees.

She complained of being sent home severally over the same an action that has affected her education since she has not been attending classes as is expected of her.
She called upon leaders to intervene in her case and find a long lasting solution over her family’s problem to enable her continue with her education promising to work hard in school.
This action was condemned by several locals including Emmanuel Wamalwa, who appealed to Benedict to provide for the family as he used to do, criticizing him for not providing for his family and demolishing their house which houses his wife and children.
He appealed to the married couples to solve their issues amicably and avoid incidences that could degenerate into the whole family suffering citing the act as cowardice.

Trans Nzoia county Mp Janet Nangabo, who arrived at the home after the incident, condemned the action that was meted on the family by the husband leaving the family stranded.
She mentioned that she was perturbed in the manner in which the husband acted and termed it as barbaric.
Nangabo appealed to the police to start investigations and arrest the husband on what she termed as destruction of property and destabilizing a family that he has stayed with for over 20 years.
She added that she will not rest until the family gets justice.
Nangabo advised parents to solve issues soberly and avoid loss or destruction of their property.
She also promised to follow up the matter in seeing that the manner in which the son was imprisoned is reviewed.
