As incidences of infernos in schools continue to be witnessed across the country, political leaders have stressed the need to have a proper mechanism set up by the ministry of education in collaboration with other education stake holders to curb the menace.
Speaking during a fundraising ceremony to build a multi-purpose hall at St. Lukes Kimilili Boys High School, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka complained an increase in these incidents saying that a quick remedy must be reached.
He urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation on the affected schools and those found culpable to face the full force of the law saying that the education stakeholders have invested a lot to set up the infrastructure in schools.

His sentiments were echoed by Trans Nzoia women representative Janet Nangabo, who called upon the education Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i to set up a committee of inquiry to look into the issue due to its escalation across the country.
She further proposed that fuel station attendants should not sell petrol to anyone who may come with a container with claims of purchasing fuel for a motorbike or car saying that they may be the ones who are collaborating to burn schools.
On his part, Bungoma County secondary schools heads association chairman Richard Sabwami Keya, said that the challenge of fires has greatly affected learning activities in schools saying each school has had its own unique reasons for the fires.
He stated that as an association, they are in support of the streamlining initiative set up by the cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i saying it will bring fourth order in schools.
The chairman called upon those with vital information that may lead to identifying those involved in the incidences of fire to show up and help the police to arrest them.

On the flipside, Bungoma governor and Trans Nzoia women representative Janet Nangabo, expressed the need of working with the national government saying that having New Ford Kenya party join Jubilee party was a well versed decision.
Kimilili Mp Suleiman Kasuti Murunga, promised to continue funding projects in schools as emphasizing that education is the key to success and that he would wish to provide a conducive environment to all students in the constituency so that they can compete favourably.
Kimilili politician Didmus Wekesa Barasa called upon the ministry of education to conduct courses for principals and head teachers to educate them on how to deal with management issues in schools saying that some of them have not had refresher courses on how to handle such issues.

St. Lukes Boys high school principal Patrick Wandili, thanked those who attended the fund raising saying that they are intending to build a multi-purpose hall that will help cater for the needs of the many students in the school.
He further promised that having put in proper academic strategies of improving the school’s performance in national examination results; they are aiming at a mean score of 10.0.
He proudly stated that the candidates had already shown the potential by leading in the diocesan mock done this year.
More than four million shillings was raised during the fund raiser with the deputy president William Samoei Ruto through Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka donating two million shillings.
