The DCC vowed to ensure officers who were compromised to release the suspect during the first arrest faces lawful consequences.

The tough speaking Maina directed the OCDP and the DCIO to launch investigations under which Kipnge’tich was released after being arrested over the defilment case.

He warned the public that he will not tolerate defilement and rape in the area and warned that his office will compile and investigate past defilement in the area.

“If you defile a minor or a school girl I will personal come for you. You will run away but you will never hide. You either marry or face the music if you defile,” the DC cautioned residents.

Source at the Endebess police station said the suspect was released by some officers who directed that the matter be sorted locally.

“When this man was arrested some officers and the girl’s kins were compromised before he was released,” the source told www.westfm.co.ke.

“Nobody has the authority to terminate a crime of this nature. It is only the office of the director of public Prosecution which has the power to withdraw the charges and I warn that any officer implicated in the matter will face the law,” he vowed.

The school where the girl is leaning praised the DCC for his action to arrest the man responsible for the girl’s pregnancy.

“Some people at the police station and the girl’s family had in the past blocked us from pursuing the case and it is commendable that the DCC has taken up the case,” said a teacher at the school.

Mongare on his part pledged that the officers and any member of public implicated in the matter will face the law.

The DCC’s action comes in the wake of calls from leaders in the area led by women Rep Janet Nangabo that the government investigates rising cases of parents marrying off their underage daughters.
