Residents of Shibakala village in Ikolomani sub county of the Kakamega County have been left in shock after a 19 years old man did the unthinkable that has left the family in need of cleansing.

The boy, after quarreling with his father over a space to build his house decided to express his anger by cutting down their unripe maize of half an acre before taking a machete and cutting the legs of three of his father’s bulls leaving them helpless whining in pain.

An open grave, a 19 years man in Ikolomani dug a grave and dared anyone to kill him after a misunderstanding with his father

The young man took a hoe and started digging on his aunt’s grave claiming that he wanted to exhume the body, see her and speak with her concerning the matter.

It took the initiative of strong family members to move him from the grave so that he does not disturb their ‘peacefully sleeping aunt.’

Having calmed him and thinking all was well, the young man was not yet through, after some time, he took a Jembe and dug his own grave saying that it is the place where he wants to be buried when he dies daring anyone who was unhappy with his actions to kill him as he had already dug his grave and was ready to die.

Since it is a taboo for a person to dig on the grave or dig his own grave, some rituals are supposed to be done to appease the dead aunt and the ancestors who have been angered by the actions.

The young man has since disappeared and is yet to be found, leaving the family bewildered since the rituals cannot be performed without him.

By now, everyone in Shibakala is on look out to get the man back to the village so that the family is cleansed before law taking its action.
