Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama amassed full minutes in his English Premier League (EPL) debut in Tottenham Hotspurs colors as they rallied back to hold host Everton to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Erik Lamela’s second-half strike left Everton ruing wasted opportunities as Ronald Koeman missed out on a winning start to life at Goodison Park.

The Toffees got off to a flier when Ross Barkley’s free-kick missed everyone and found its way into the far corner of the Tottenham goal past Hugo Lloris.

Despite a comfortable first half, they were unable to find a crucial second, Gerard Deulofeu thwarted by substitute goalkeeper Michel Vorm just seconds before the half-time whistle.

Koeman’s men carried on where they left off in the second half, until just before the hour mark when Kyle Walker produced an excellent cross for Erik Lamela to burst in front of his man and head home.

The goal turned the tide in the game and only some excellent goalkeeping from debutant Maarten Stekelenburg in the Everton goal kept the scores level.

The defending champions Leicester City started on a poor note thrashed 2-1 by Hull City.

Adama Diomande scored the opener for Hull in the 45th minute but was equalized by Riyad Mahrez in the 47th minute.

The winning goal for Hull city was scored by Robert Snodgrass in the 57th minute.

In other matches, Manchester City knocked down Sunderland 2-1, Swansea defeated Burnley 1-0, West Bromich Albion smashed Crystal Palece 1-0 as Southampton forced a 1-1 draw against Watford City.
