The residents of Kiptuiya ward in Nandi county took to the streets to demonstrate over the murder of one of the residents who was killed a week ago by unknown assailants. His body was found dumped in one of the homesteads around Denja Zamani area.
The angry residents demanded justice be done, claiming that the suspects of the murder have not yet been brought to book despite being known, a situation which has forced them to blow the trumpet.
They had placards with written demands for justice to prevail and those who commented on the situation blamed the security team for their sluggishness in carrying out the investigations on the murder.
Nandi County Administration police Commander John Oketch who spoke to the angry residents on behalf of the county commissioner who is away on official duties, calmed the demonstrators urging them to be peaceful as investigations are ongoing and justice will prevail.
The victim had earlier on been seen with other colleagues around evening at Denja shopping centers before his demise. It is believed he was murdered in a different location and his body ferried to the scene where it was found.
Nandi Central police Boss Joakim Mecha who spoke to West Media said three murder suspects have been arrested and are still being investigated. According to the residents, the suspects are still at large and are known.
Immediately after the sad news of the murder spread in the area, the residents torched two houses at Denja believed to be the brewing dens for illicit brew.
