The government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe has strongly warned people who are harbouring terrorists in their homes. This comes after the recent Mombasa incident where police officers were injured and the station damaged.

The spokesperson has responded to the matter saying that police stations give critical services to citizens and therefore attacking them is an attempt to deny the public services.

“Of greater concern to the government is that subsequent to the Sunday attack, evidence has emerged showing that the attackers were in close communication with various individuals, including relatives as they plotted the attack,” said the Kiraithe.

Kiraithe was speaking in Nairobi reflecting on the security issues saying that the government wishes that citizens should know that the goal of terrorists is to cause maximum causalities and destroy the economy.

The government spokesperson emphasised that amongst those individuals there were people with information on the plot given that the women attackers were armed with explosives and body armour.

Kiraithe has called upon Kenyans to be vigilant when it comes to sharing any information that might enable the police to avert planned criminal activities so as to save innocent lives in the country and make the nation safer, “In effect, failure to report terrorism is willingly becoming an accomplice in the mass murder of people who have not offended any known person in any way,” he said, “Had someone reported this plot on time, the deceased culprits would have been arrested, subjected to the due process of the law and eventually given an opportunity to reform and to achieve their God given potential.”

On the miraa ban saga, the spokesperson said that the national government is committed to the welfare of its entire citizens especially those living in the rural economically marginalized areas. “This has returned a smile on the faces of Miraa farmers in the Meru County.”
