More than 3000 National Identity Cards (IDs) remain uncollected by owners in Lugari Sub County, Kakamega County.
According to the Sub County Registrar of Persons, Mr. John Omega a total of 3,241 identification cards are lying uncollected in various offices within the sub-county.

“A total of 3241 processed identity cards are yet to be collected by owners,” said Omega, adding most of the IDs were lying at chiefs and assistant chiefs offices across the sub-county.
According to the officer, most of the uncollected cards were ready by January 2016.
He urged individuals, especially youth, who had applied to have the documents to visit the local administration centres and collect their identity cards.
“I am also appealing to chiefs and their assistants to closely work with village elders in order trace owners of these vital documents,” added the registrar.
He warned the local administrators against using the same to solicit bribes from unsuspecting residents.
“I urge locals to report any incidents of corruption to investigations agencies for appropriate action,” urged Omega.
Omega further encouraged those have acquired the identity cards to visit area Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) office and register as voters in readiness to participate in forthcoming general elections.
