Busia First Lady Judy Ojaamong will participate in the Uganda marathon race scheduled for Lumino grounds in Busia, Uganda on Saturday.

Speaker of the Uganda parliament Rebecca Kadaga will be the chief participant. The aim of the event is to raise Kshs. 7 million to equip two maternity wards so as to reduce mortality rates and disabilities among the newly born children.

Other prominent personalities who will grace the occasion will be Katikiro, Prime Minister of the Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Maiga.

He said Funyula MP Paul Otuoma and his Budalangi counterparts Ababu Namwamba have confirmed their financial support for the race.

The event coordinator Hannington Bakumba said Mrs. Ojaamong will participate in the 5km race. Other races on the card include the 10Km and 400m for the disabled in wheelchairs and tricycles.

Apart from raising funds through the marathon event, Bakumba said they will raise some through the sale of T-Shirts, tickets, and donations.

A football match pitting Ugandan MPs against Busia County government (Kenya) will be played moments after the marathon race.

The Uganda team will be captained by Budadi West MP in Sironko Nathan Nandala with Salim Suleiman to captain Busia County team.

Netball has also been earmarked for the same day with Uganda parliamentarians taking on Busia County government team.
