Bungoma County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) top brass has dismissed claims by Ford Kenya members that Western region is a Ford Kenya zone.
They said that Ford Kenya has no moral authority to dictate where they should ply their trade and termed the opinions of Dr. Eseli Simiyu as ill-advised.
Kakamega County chief of staff Nabii Nabwera while addressing the press after a meeting with Bungoma ODM delegates at Bungoma Red Cross where they installed Ali Machani (Maraka ward MCA) as ODM county chairperson said that Ford Kenya should desist from meddling into affairs of their party.
Nabwera said that that Ford Kenya and ODM has the same number of MCAs in the County Assembly of Bungoma and that they ought to respect each other as partners in the CORDs coalition.
He added that they field candidates in all elective positions starting from the MCAs to the gubernatorial seat, adding that no one in the CORDs coalition has a right to purport that certain regions belong to them.
“It’s ODM fraternity that helped the re-election of Moses Wetang’ula and as a party, we are demanding an apology from them for such reckless remarks,” he said
Former Kanduyi MP Dr. Alfred Khang’ati told the press that they were electing a new chairman who will run the affairs of the party in the county following the defection of former ODM chairman and Sirisia MP John Waluke to Jubilee Party
Khang’ati said that the new chairperson will oversee the transformation of the party’s dwindling image after the departure of the Waluke to Jubilee, adding that its Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka who organized the departure of their strongman to Jubilee.
On the other hand, the new ODM chair Ali Machani said that he is up to the task to ensure that they sweep all the elective seats in Bungoma in the next elections.
He said that the face of ODM is still present in the region and that no one should cheat the electorate that the party has naturally died, adding that such ideas were on unfounded grounds by their Ford Kenya counterparts
