The panel formed to select IEBC chairperson and its commissioners should speed up its selection process to give the officials enough time to conduct next year general elections. Vihiga county senator George Khaniri said delaying the process would ruin the possibility of having the elections on 8th August next year as scheduled in the constitution.
“We want the panel to put its house in order and ensure they unveil the election team as agreed by the select committee led by senator James Orengo and his counterpart Kiraitu Murungi,” said Khaniri.
He claimed that the government is not committed to having the elections in August and instead want to push the elections dates.
“This is a ploy to delay the elections. We want the commissioners to be in office as promised and have the elections as planned,” said Khaniri.
Speaking at Wisiakho Friends’ church Hamisi Sub County after a church service, he criticized the jubilee government of run-away corruption and increased poverty among Kenyans due to their misrule and low spirit to fight corruption.
“Our economy has been ruined due to various massive fraud and increased borrowing which has not been utilized to the benefit of citizens,” said Khaniri.
He said the Jubilee government has been hit by many scandals than any other previous regimes in the Country and called on its administration to pave way for new leadership.
“Under Jubilee government, we have witnessed increased loss of jobs and ethnicity,” said Khaniri citing that most top government jobs were headed by one tribe.
Khaniri added that the selected commissioners should ensure free and fair elections devoid of any malpractices that all Kenyans will accept.
At the same time, he called on Musalia Mudavadi to join other opposition leaders to defeat jubilee government with a landslide.
“We have realized that joining forces will be the best bet to send Jubilee home and restore hope for Kenyans,” said Khaniri.
