The ministry of education is working on ways of establishing why there are cases of absenteeism for candidates who had already registered for KCSE. This has been revealed by Education PS Belio Kipsang who toured various schools in the western region in an effort to ensure that KCSE exams kick off successfully.
Addressing the press, Kipsang revealed that so far he had recorded three cases of candidates who had not done their exams, one being in Vihiga county while two at Kakamega High School.
He explained that one of the cases from Kakamega was a medical case, but they were yet to find out why the other student disappeared and never turned up to sit for the exams.
Kipsang said that they will work with the local administration to try and trace the students’ homes so as to get answers as to why they registered to sit for the exams yet failed to turn up.
He explained that it is in an effort to ensure that integrity is restored in schools and among students.
Kipsang assured that tight security will be availed in all schools by the ministry of interior and coordination to ensure that no cheating cases are recorded and the whole exercise is a success.
