Likuyani Deputy County Commissioner passes away

Grief has gripped Likuyani Sub County and entire Kakamega County following the shocking death of Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. David Cherop Kosgey on Wednesday afternoon. Until his death, Cherop was the Deputy County Commissioner for Likuyani Sub County.

Confirmed reports indicate he passed on while undergoing treatment at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret.

Acting Lugari DCC, Mr. Reuben Kimosop told West Media the late had been battling with an undisclosed disease for a long time.

“Before his shocking demise, the late DCC had been in and out of hospital on medical treatment for an unrevealed disease for a long period of time,” said.

The late Kosgey officially reported to Likuyani Sub County on 17th February 2016, where before his demise he had worked for 9 months.

Speaking to West Media on phone, former area DCC, Mr. John Ayienda expressed shock over his successor’s death.

“I knew Kosgey as a hardworking and committed public servant who discharged his duties with full passion and unrivalled integrity,” said Ayienda who is currently the DCC for Tharaka South Sub County.

Ayienda condoled with the late DCC’s family, relatives, Likuyani Sub County local administration and community and generally Kenyans who worked with the late prior to his demise.

Sub County residents, led by chiefs, Mr. Charles Banda of Likuyani location, Peter Lukano  (Kongoni), Josephat Edambo (Nzoia) , Simiyu Siakama (Sinoko) and Seregeya assistant chief, Mrs. Diana Owano mourned the death, with most of them describing the late as a committed servant.

“He worked well with all civil servants and residents for the short period of time he served in Likuyani,” noted Owano
