A family at Makutano village in Sango sub location from Likuyani Sub County have urged security organs to help unravel the mystery surrounding the brutal murder of the daughter, Sheila Njambi, over the weekend.

Speaking to West Media, the deceased mother, Mrs Lilian Veleso, said the family was yet to come to terms with the sad news about the daughter’s death whose body was retrieved from Kipsangui River near Soy trading centre on Sunday.

“Until her brutal murder, our daughter was living at Soy market where she was running her own salon kiosk,” said Veleso.

The mother said she communicated to her daughter via SMS on Friday before receiving the bad news on Sunday evening.

“She sent me a mobile phone text on Friday indicating she was planning to come home on Sunday,” recalled the stressed mother.

According to the mother, police officers at Soy station informed her about the incident after they had removed the body to Eldoret’s Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).

Mrs. Pamela Lumile, an aunt to the deceased, alleged the niece left for Longisa centre in Uasin Gishu County while in the company of an unnamed friend prior to the tragedy.

“But she never returned,” said the aunt who disclosed the body was noticed by a young boy  who was then tending flock along the river.

Eyewitnesses confirmed the body was marred with serious injuries, with most of them pointing at the possibility of an aftermath of a love relationship gone sour. Her grandmother Mrs. Phanice Imbwenya said her granddaughter used to visit her during weekends and she was expecting her on Sunday before she received shocking news of her death.

She appealed for a thorough investigation into the incident to be done and called for all those who were involved in the murder of her granddaughter to face legal action. “All we want is justice for my granddaughter,” she said. Police officers at Soy have launched investigations.
