Webuye West Member of Parliament Hon. Dan Wanyama has urged Christians to pray for the country as we head towards the general elections. He said this while in Bukembe Friends Boys Secondary School during a five-day Friends Quakers church women conference.
“I urge you to pray for this country as we near the general elections,” he said, “You know as leaders we rely on your prayers because it is only through prayers that we’ll have free, fair and peaceful elections,” said Wanyama.
Wanyama urged the politicians who will be vying for different seats to accept the results, bearing in mind that a good leader comes from God. He urged them to support whoever will be elected and work together towards development.
“Let us accept results as they will be announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, we should know that any leader that will be elected by voters is God chosen so we should gear all our support to him or her to make our country successful,” he reiterated.
The main speaker of the Conference Gabriel Khaemba who is the General Superintendent of Lugulu Yearly Meeting urged Christians to relate well with their leaders and to respect and obey them.
“Any leader is God chosen, therefore, let us respect them according to the Bible and remember that a nation that respects its leaders is prosperous,” said Khaemba.
The pastor for USFW Lugulu Yearly Meeting Mrs. Beatrice Ngutuku urged leaders both to commit everything to God for it is only through Him that they will emerge winners.
“Politicians who are aspiring for different seats don’t go and seek for alternative means that will enable you to win elections, trust in the Living God for He is faithful to His children and you will emerge victorious come 2017 general election,” said Mrs. Ngutuku.
