The Kenya Pipeline Company hosted a luncheon in honour of their women volleyball team who are the champions of the Kenya national volleyball league. The team which saw success in 2016 as the league champions is set to represent Kenya in the Africa club championship later in April held in Tunisia.

The team’s coach Japheth Munala is confident that his team is in a better position to balance between the national league and the international championships besides the fact that the team has up to 8 players in the women’s national team. He, however, said the team has recruited about 24 other players to the club thus placing them in a comfortable position in this year’s tight schedule.

According to the team captain Trizah Atuka, the fact that the team won the national league gives the players morale to even work harder on the field to bring back their continental glory. She appreciates the fact that most of the team players are in the national team and that it grants the team an advantage in terms of the skills acquired in the national team camp, and also fires up other players to work harder to improve their game.

With the national league set to start on third March in Malaba, the team is already getting ready for this year’s chain of events given that they have two titles to fight for. According to one of the players, their chief sponsors Kenya Pipeline Company give them the much-needed support they require, therefore they are ready to work hard this year as an appreciation for all the support they receive.
