Ford Kenya Party leader, Moses Wetangula has assured aspirants for all elective seats of free and fair party primaries ahead of August General Elections.
Wetangula, who is the Senator for Bungoma county, made the assurance at Spring
Park Hotel in Turbo where he addressed aspirants for various seats drawn from Lugari and Likuyani sub counties.
“As a party that upholds principles of democracy, we do not have any special tickets under the table for any individual(s),” said Wetangula who expressed delight in the large number of aspirants who have shown interest in members of county assembly positions.
Only two aspirants, Messrs Joseph Lunani and Patrick Sande, have so far declared their interest to vie for Lugari parliamentary seat through the party.
So far it is only Kibunguchy who has announced his decision to retain his Likuyani seat through Ford Kenya. He won the seat via Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The senator urged all aspirants countrywide to accept results of party primaries and be ready to back candidates who will emerge victorious.
“Results of party primaries should not break us, but should solidify our party,” appealed Wetangula.
Wetangula reiterated his determination to become the country’s fifth president after the forthcoming presidential elections.
He slammed the recent crowning of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, Musalia Mudavadi, as the spokesperson for Luhya community.
“Mr. Francis Atwoli should know as a community we are not interested in producing a Luhya president but Kenya’s fifth president,” added Wetangula who criticized and accused Atwoli of attempting to auction the community.
The senator was accompanied by Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, MPs Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy (Likuyani), Dr. Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) and Suleiman Murunga (Kimilili).
He urged eligible youth and adults to register in large numbers during the second mass voter registration exercise set to kick off on 16th January.
