Anglican Church of Kenya Katakwa Diocese Bishop John Okude has sent a special appeal to politicians across the country not to allow party primaries to tear their Counties asunder.
In his Easter message to Christians in Chepkarai Anglican Church in Mt Elgon Archdeaconry, Bishop Okude said development cannot be achieved where division arises as a result of party primaries. “Let peace, love, unity and understanding be our cardinal rule in our endeavour to grow into God fearing people instead of inciting the peace loving residents to start hating each other,” he said.
“We need to go back to Christ who is the anchor and creator of our faith. We shall remain Christians because he died for us all,” he said, thus the need to co-exist with one another.
Bishop Okude said there was a need to develop our Counties through concerted efforts instead of allowing divisive politics to override the unity that took us time to achieve.
“I want to see a situation where the people of Busia and other Counties embrace each other and work together for the common good instead of developing the culture of hatred,” he said.
