Jubilee nominations in Trans Nzoia County commenced with hitches being experienced at Kitale National Polytechnic where some ballot boxes for Saboti constituency were tampered with. It took the intervention of Jubilee officials at the national level to establish order and successful nominations. The exercise stalled, causing delays in various voting centres in Saboti where elections began at noon.

The party is holding another nomination within the County following the cancellation of the previous one by the Jubilee party secretariat countrywide due to logistical problems.

The voters blamed the party National Elections Board for the mess, including failing to secure the voting material. “We call upon the Jubilee Elections Board to come up and explain to us why this has happened. What we want is to elect leaders we want, the issues surrounding ballot papers isn’t our area of concern, and the leadership should shoulder the blame,” said one of them.

Several aspirants including area MP David Wekesa Lazaro and his opponent Jonas Kukwo have blamed the Jubilee party Election Board over the handling of the election materials in the constituency.

They, however, appealed for calm especially to their supporters as the problem was being sorted out in several respective areas expressing their confidence of winning.

However, Jubilee official in the constituency Jane Wekesa appealed for calm from the residents as police were investigating the matter, and she declined to talk to the media saying the issue is already under investigation.

In Kiminini constituency at Bikeke primary school voting station, residents turned up in large numbers. However, several voters spent a lot of time on the queues due to minor issues involving the staff.  “The voting clerks are few and we are finding it difficult to take part in this exercise because of the mistakes with the party elections board,” said one of the voters, adding that the Elections Board has availed few clerks.
