Former Cabinet Minister and Tourism Fund chairman Henry Kosgey has affirmed his interest in the Nandi gubernatorial seat and has urged residents to support him. Speaking at St Barnabas ACK Church in Kapsabet, Kosgey urged residents to consider him for the position.
He added that he intends to take Nandi County back to its previous glory, and accused the governor of displaying poor leadership, citing that even public funds have been misused. He accused the County government officials of looting and keeping funds in secret accounts in neighbouring country Uganda.
He also decried the lack of medicinal drugs and essential facilities in public hospitals in Nandi, despite the fact that the national government had provided sufficient funds and equipment.
His popularity has increased lately, after endorsements by leaders from the County. Former councillors led by their chairman William Birech, also known as Oria, endorsed Mr Kosgey to vie for the seat saying he has the leadership experience given that he has been in government for long and he had served in different capacities. Kosgey will vie for the post on a jubilee ticket.
