Bungoma County Ford Kenya Chairman, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kanduyi Constituency. Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi has said that Ford Kenya Party will officially launch its campaign on Monday 29th May 2017 in Bungoma Posta grounds.
Addressing journalists in Bungoma town, Wamunyinyi said that Ford Kenya party leader who is also the Senator for Bungoma County Moses Wetangula will present his nomination papers to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices on Monday before attending the launching rally.
“As a party, we will be launching our campaigns on Monday after the senator will have presented his papers to IEBC thereafter we shall let him go and work with his co-principals as he is a member of Pentagon and he is a national leader, but for us here, we shall continue with other duties,” stated Wamunyinyi.
Wamunyinyi also said that as Ford Kenya party they are supporting Raila Odinga as NASA presidential flag bearer, therefore, as a party, they don’t want to clash with other parties that form NASA coalition in Bungoma as he said that Ford Kenya should be the only party in Bungoma in NASA coalition.
“We accepted to support Raila for the presidential bid, in fact, Wetangula sacrificed his ambition for the presidency. We all know that Raila is in ODM but we partnered with him therefore as a coalition we are supposed to strengthen all parties, and for Ford Kenya to be strong, other parties in NASA coalition should avoid fielding candidates in Bungoma County, and if at all this will happen our opponent will have an upper hand in the region,” he added.
“Therefore I urge other candidates in NASA coalition who are vying on different parties to rethink about this,” he emphasized.
He urged all aspirants that won and lost in Ford Kenya nominations to support the party as it is the only way to win the election.
“For those aspirants who never managed to get tickets during party primaries it is my plea to you to come together and support those who won so that we get more seats in Bungoma County. All parties had challenges in party primaries, and I can’t disqualify that we didn’t have too but let us put that aside and support our party during this period of campaign and general election,” said Wamunyinyi.
