President Uhuru Kenyatta has travelled to Taormina, Italy, to attend the 43rd G7 summit, where he will address world leaders and deliver a speech on “The timeliness and challenges brought about by innovation as a factor of economic growth and development in Africa.” The G7 summit, which has 7 core members, brings together leaders from major advanced economies in the world, and issues affecting economic governance and international security are discussed.
He will meet other prominent world leaders in the summit, including US President Donald Trump. Other leaders in the summit include newly elected French leader Emmanuel Macron, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Italy Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, and Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
President Kenyatta will also showcase Kenya’s achievements over time and show Africa’s interest in a way that is digestible on the global stage. Other African countries that have been invited to the summit include Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Nigeria.
