Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman Eliud Wabukala has said the commission has received validation forms from 16,140 aspirants. Speaking during an awareness function with religious institutions, Wabukala said the validation forms will help in the vetting process as we head towards the general elections and to check on an aspirant’s conduct in future, “In future when we find a certain person with a problem (conduct) we go back to the form and see he declared he was innocent before,” he said, “We are then able to institute a court case in that situation.”

Wabukala said they’ve received 11 validation forms from presidential candidates, “We’ve received the form of the Jubilee candidate, and the form of the NASA candidate,” he said. He outlined the other leaders who’ve handed in their forms, “3 are from the deputy president aspirants, 263 from the Governors, 81 are from the Deputy Governors, 333 are for Senators, 361 forms are from Woman representatives, 1964 are from Members of Parliament, 12,913 for MCAs.”

He added that if they discover the aspirants aren’t qualified they’ll send their recommendation to IEBC who are mandated legally to take necessary action.

He urged Kenyans to do away with the culture of shifting blame and hurling accusations, and instead focus on collaboration, “Let us change the narrative of pointing fingers to that of collaboration,” he said, adding that this will enable corruption to be dealt with from both sides of te spectrum, from the low levels of society to the top level.
