The board of management of Chebukwabi Youth Polytechnic in Kimilili Sub County and residents of Chebukwabi are up in arms against a transfer notice for the institution’s manager Boniface Wamalwa, terming the transfer as a malicious intent by the Bungoma County Education chief officer saying they will not accept it.
Led by the board chairman Daniel Yaka, the residents accused the Bungoma County Education Chief Officer Monica Fedha of not being fair to the manager, saying he has worked in the institution for more than a year and they were satisfied with his output so far.
He disclosed that ever since Mr Wamalwa joined the institution tremendous changes have been able to be effected saying he is hardworking and has been able to steer the institution on the right track and therefore, they won’t allow his transfer to be effected. He said they have arrived at the decision unanimously as the board, adding that they haven’t noted any misappropriation cases in the Institute.
His sentiments were echoed by the area MCA Justus Kibaba, who cautioned the Chief Officer against unwarranted transfers in institutions saying the transfer is politically instigated and as stakeholders they will not allow the manager to be transferred. He said besides being hardworking, the manager has also increased enrollment in the institution ever since he joined.
Mr Kibaba said transfers should be procedural and they have to explain in detail why they want to transfer the manager after a short stint at the institute despite having performed well. However, efforts to reach the Chief Officer for comments regarding the issue were futile.
