Nandi County nurses have distanced themselves from the decision by the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Nandi branch secretary Mr Amos Ng’etich to call off the nurses’ strike in the County, terming it as irrational and personal.
Speaking to the media at the Kamukunji ground in Kapsabet, the KNUN Nandi branch chairman Mr Paul Sang said the strike is still on and that whoever called off the strike in the first place is insubordinating the County leadership.
Sang revealed that Amos Ng’etich is not fit to tackle any interests of the nurses. He said that Ng’etich was suspended by the Union through a letter dated 20th September 2016, recanting his position, after the discovery that he wasn’t a contributing member of the Union for the seven months set in the Union’s Constitution.
He added that at the moment, the recognized Branch Secretary is Jane Chelimo, adding that nurses won’t go back to work until the Collective Bargaining Agreement is signed.
