NASA Co-Principals have visited Trans Nzoia County as the campaign train gains momentum. The principals led by their leader Raila Odinga appealed to the residents in the County to support the coalition in the general elections. The ODM leader criticized the government for slashing the buying price of maize from Kshs 3600 to Kshs 3200, while they import maize at the same time, saying that they don’t care for the interests of farmers.
The NASA principal said despite the government’s assurance to Kenyans that there was enough maize in the country there is no tangible evidence, “Have you seen enough flour in the shops the way the government has told you?” posed Raila Odinga amidst cheers from te crowd.
He called upon the residents to turn up in large numbers and vote for them, adding that they should remain in polling centers to prevent any rigging. He said that the opposition will have a parallel tallying center, and that each polling station will be represented by five people, contrary to remarks by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
“We’ll have five people at every polling station who will guard our votes and help us relay the cast votes parallel to IEBC. Now we are very keen and we won’t allow rigging of votes,” said Raila. He blamed the government leaders for failing to honor the promises they made to Kenyans regarding road construction and failure to compensate internally displaced persons (IDPs)
His sentiments were echoed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who appealed to IEBC to remain neutral in their tasks during the general elections. He said the NASA government will work in solidarity, saying all positions have been allotted equally and that the principals will consult each other before making any decisions if they form the next government, citing that Jubilee leaders have worked alone without consultations.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi appealed to Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to ditch Jubilee and join them in NASA saying he’ll be comfortable there. He said the Water CS must listen to his brothers because his political journey is doomed if he keeps on campaigning for Jubilee. “I want to appeal to Eugene Wamalwa to decamp from Jubilee and join us in NASA as we are assured of winning the presidency. He’s not safe where he is,” said Mudavadi. On his part, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula called upon the residents of the County to vote for NASA.
