It was a happy day for 987 residents of James Mwei, in Misanga village of Tongaren Sub County after the national government gave them title deeds to assert their ownership of land. Some residents had occupied the land for the past fifty years without the important document.

Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa said it was as a result of the efforts of the Jubilee government that the title deeds were finally availed. He said the Deputy President’s pledge of providing title deeds in the area was now fulfilled.

He lashed out at leaders from the opposition who have criticized the initiative saying since they are not capable of producing title deeds for the residents, they should support the government’s initiative.

Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka expressed his disappointment with those who were peddling propaganda that the title deeds issued were fake, saying a high ranking government officer like Eugene Wamalwa and himself cannot dare take fake title deeds to residents.

“We are leaders here, how can we even contemplate bringing fake title deeds, those are just malicious statements being spread by those who are against development and cannot be comfortable that progress is being achieved,” he said.

The Water CS also lashed at the opposition leaders for their efforts to have the August 8th polls postponed, saying the courts have had the final say and the date will remain.

He, therefore, called upon the opposition to refrain from sideshows and be ready to face the Jubilee party in the polls saying currently the opinion polls indicate that the NASA coalition and Jubilee party enjoy a fifty fifty support in Western Kenya.

CS Wamalwa further disclosed that the Jubilee government has launched many development projects in the County and urged residents to vote for leaders in Jubilee party ticket to propel more development projects from the government.

The two were accompanied by Bungoma County Woman representative Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi and Tongaren Jubilee MP candidate John Murumba Chikati who also urged the residents to support the Jubilee government.
