The Youth in West Pokot County have been warned to be wary of being used by politicians to cause violence during this electioneering period. West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin said that they should not be misused by politicians who are after their selfish interests and gaining political mileage. Governor Kachapin accused his rivals of using the youth to tarnish his name.
Speaking at Tamugh, he said it’s useless for young people to waste their energy to enable politicians to reveal their political might, and he urged religious leaders to reconcile politicians and pray for the country during this election period. “They need to bring Kenyans together because we don’t want to go back to the 2007/2008 skirmishes,” he said.
Moreover, he noted that some leaders don’t even respect the President, “Others don’t even respect the President yet his is the symbol of national unity. Even if you’re competing with him, you must him,” he said.
