Leaders from West Pokot County have condemned the post election skirmishes that have been witnessed in some parts in the country. Led by Kapenguria member of parliament elect Mr. Samuel Moroto and Sigor Member of parliament elect Mr. Peter Lochakapong, the leaders called on opposition outfit NASA to accept the elections results to curb any escalating violence.
“The elections were free and fair and those complaining are not genuine,” he said, “NASA shouldn’t cause problems in the country. We need everything to return to normal.” He urged those with complains to go and challenge the results in court.
Moroto lauded the IEBC for conducting free, fair and credible elections, “This time round, everything went on well and IEBC did an incredible job,” he said.
He urged the electoral body to improve voter education in some areas given that some voters found it hard to vote due to high illiteracy levels, “They should use candidates’ photos for easy identification,” he said, “It was a challenge for those who are not learned.” He lauded Kapenguria residents for conducting peaceful elections, and urged all leaders to com together to develop the region.
Lochakapong thanked Sigor residents for electing him as the area member of parliament, adding that the elections were free and fair, “The will of the people prevailed, and those who failed should accept defeat. We don;t want to witness any chaos,” he said.
The leaders were speaking during the celebration at the home of Kapenguria member of parliament elect Mr. Samuel Moroto at Talau village.
