Vihiga Governor-elect Wilberforce Otichilo will be sworn in next week on Monday to be able to assume office legitimately. According to Governor’s assumption of office committee led by County Secretary Linet Abdalla, the ceremony will be held at Kidundu grounds in Vihiga Sub County.
She said the transition will be held smoothly after making all desired arrangements before the ceremony.
She was addressing the press on the final touches the committee is undertaking before the ceremony.
“The committee is working on the logistics and financial plan for the accomplishment of the event next week which we hope will be successful,” said Abdalla.
Abdalla with other committee members was in the company of governor-elect Wilberforce Otichilo at the county’s boardroom.
The Governor thanked the committee for their concerted efforts and time to ensure smooth transition and change of guard.
The Governor-elect said he was eager to assume office and deliver promises he made during the campaign period.
He also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Governor Moses Akaranga for his achievements and said as one of the pioneer Governors they faced numerous challenges when devolution was introduced.
“We will make hard decisions in the current system of government but not in bad faith or victimization of individuals,” said Otichilo.
He added that they will base the changes on the current system of government in the Constitution and County government act for better service delivery.
