With the repeat presidential elections scheduled to be held on Thursday next week, Lugari Sub County residents have been urged to be ready to help the government in conducting peaceful and successful elections. Speaking during the mashujaa day celebrations held at the Lumakanda sports grounds the area deputy county commissioner Mrs. Agnes Karoki urged residents to maintain peace during this period and remain united despite their political affiliations.

She cautioned politicians and residents against involving in acts of lawlessness and violence in the run-up and after the elections. “Let us maintain peace before, during and after next week’s elections, we should create a peaceful environment for our form four and
standard eight candidates to do their examinations without any interference so that they can compete favourably with others,” said the DCC.
Karoki who is the chairperson of the Sub County security committee called on voters to turn up in large numbers on October 26 and vote peacefully saying it was democratic right for everyone to go and vote for their desired president.
“There’s no any way you can exercise your democratic rights apart from participating in elections, therefore let us exercise our democracy by coming out in large numbers to participate in the repeat presidential election,” said the DCC who assured there will be maximum security to ensure the voting process is conducted in a peaceful and orderly
manner.
