It was a befitting send off to the late mama Scholastic Tindi Kuchio Maruti as hundreds of mourners gathered at Kimilili girls’ primary school in Kimilili constituency for her burial ceremony that was led by Father John Sulumeti of St. Leo Catholic Church in Kimilili.
Many who eulogized her termed the late mama Scholastic as a disciplinarian, religious, neat and an educationist who loved to interact with many in the society and helping them in any way she could to the best of her ability.
Father Sulumeti said he knew the late Mama Scholastic while serving as a seminarist before rising to become a priest and was transferred back to St Leo Catholic church and praised the late for her strong faith saying she was a very active member in the church.
“The late was in several religious groups in church and also was a leader in the “Jumuiya” thus she was a very industrious member of the church and I call upon other Christians to emulate her example and be strong in their faith,” he said.
Her children Eugene, Nelly, Jackline, Sylvia, Audrey, Kizito, Mukasa and Viola eulogized their mother to have been a wonderful lady in their lives saying the impact of discipline and hard work they will forever cherish.
The first daughter Nelly who followed the footsteps of her mother to become a teacher said her late mother ensured they all got educated saying she really valued education as the key to life.
The funeral was also attended by her grandchildren among them Eric Lumbasi of West Media Limited.
Until then the late scholastic was a long-serving teacher who retired after being a deputy head teacher at Kimilili girl’s primary but also served in various school boards that include Kimilili boys’ high school and St. Theresa’s girls.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati who also attended the funeral said so far for the period he has been in office the County government has been able to save over one hundred million after he came up with strict rules to cut down on spending especially for MCAs to attending seminars in hotels outside the county.
He disclosed that there are many hotels within the County with facilities that are capable of taking care of their needs, therefore, there was no need of going outside the County.
Governor Wangamati also assured residents of Kimilili that his government will be all inclusive and resources will for sure trickle down up to the grass root level, citing the bursary issue saying students will get a minimum of ten thousand shillings.
Kibingei Ward MCA Aggrey Mulongo called upon residents to maintain peace as the country waits for the repeat of the presidential polls.
