NASA and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has reiterated that Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka shouldn’t be prosecuted for refusing to take part in the repeat poll because they haven’t broken any law. He said that if the current situation doesn’t change and the electoral field remains bumpy, then the opposition leaders won’t take part in the repeat presidential election.
Speaking in Busia, after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said it will open investigations against the opposition leaders for saying they won’t take part in the polls, Wetangula faulted the move, “There is no law that Raila and Kalonzo would’ve broken,” he said, “If the playing field remains bumpy and the referees are playing against us, then we’ll make sure there is no election.”
He said it isn’t a criminal offence and anyone in the country is entitled to have their own opinion. He further urged the DPP Keriako Tobiko to make independent decisions and avoid being influenced by Jubilee leaders, “I know you are a good man, don’t give into pressure by Jubilee. You are protected by the constitution so they can’t sack you or do anything to you,” said Wetangula.
