Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has assured the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) that the government will support the production and management of statistics by availing adequate resources. The CS said the government depends on statistical information to shape growth-oriented policies.
Speaking during the commemoration of this year’s African statistics day at KICC, Nairobi, Kiunjuri said the main objective of surveys is to usually provide poverty and welfare estimates, updated labour force indicators, household income and other key socio-economic factors which are vital in assessing the country’s development progress.

He also urged the development partners to continue supporting statistical activities in the country, ”I wish to recognize the continued support we have received from our development partners over the years, I request the development partners to continue supporting statistical activities in the country and to help us meet the expanding demand for statistics.”
