Two family members died on the spot while two other relatives escaped with serious injuries following a grisly road accident at Musembe along the Eldoret – Webuye highway in Lugari sub county.
According to multiple sources who witnessed the tragedy, the accident occurred when a lorry rammed into a motorcycle before instantly killing the two.
“The motorbike rider was carrying three passengers and he lost control swaying in the road before being hit from behind by a truck that was following them,” reported our source, adding the truck, which was traveling from Eldoret to Webuye direction, was over speeding at time of the accident.
According to another relative Mr. Donald Keya who was traveling on a separate motorbike, they were on their way back to Kakamega after attending a family meeting at Musembe when the accident occurred.

He said they were using four motorbikes with each carrying two passengers disclosing that the one which was involved in the accident was being ridden by his brother.
“We had used four motorbikes from Kakamega to this side and we were on our way back home, three of us were in front and we had gone much far when I received a call from my brother whom we had left behind telling me they had been involved in an accident and he was the only survivor,” explained Keya adding that the other female passenger who also escaped with serious injuries had just hiked a lift and was supposed to be dropped at Magut few meters from the scene of the accident.
The deceased were father and his son while the rider and the female passenger were close relatives to the deceased.
The injure were rushed to Lumakanda sub county hospital before being transferred to Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital in Eldoret while the bodies were remove to Chebaiywa mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu county.
Confirming the incident acting Lugari OCPD Mr. Anthony Njeru appealed to all motorcyclists to adhere to traffic rules warning them against carrying more than one passenger.
