NASA has unveiled the list of leaders who will be in charge of the People’s assemblies as the steering committee. Addressing the press at Okoa Kenya in Nairobi, Dr. Bonny Khalwale said the committee will deliberate on and produce the roadmap towards achievements of the set objectives through the People’s Assembly which will lead to fair and free elections or the path to self-determination. The leaders are Dr David Ndii, Judy Sijeny, Hamida Kibwana, Dr. Mutakha Kangu, Dr Odwuor Ong’wen, Koitamet Ole Kina and Peter Mathuka.
Khalwale further said the task force could coordinate the programs in the various People’s Assemblies in the Counties, “The work of the organizing committee would be to guide, facilitate and coordinate programs of various Assemblies across the country,” he said. However, he reiterated that the People’s Assemblies are lawful and there should be no intervention with their operations,”We assert as per the constitution the right of citizens to exercise sovereignty at the County level and it’s not subject to supervision or veto by the national government as we embark on the final pillar of restoring democracy, just government and legitimate leadership,” he said. The NASA leader pointed out that majority of Kenyans didn’t participate and neither did they recognize the October 26th elections and according to the Constitution, they haven’t delegated the sovereignty to President Uhuru Kenyatta, indicating that the People’s Assembly will provide a chance for them to voice their stand.
