Yvonne Wamalwa, widow of former Vice President Michael Wamalwa Kijana is dead, CS Eugene Wamalwa confirms.
Yvonne Nambia Wamalwa was the wife of the eighth vice president of Kenya Michael Kijana Wamalwa who died in 2003 after winning the general election under the National rainbow alliance.
Yvonne died at her sister’s home in Nanyuki today morning.
CS Eugene Wamalwa has also confirmed that the family is making arrangements to airlift the body to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
Yvonne attended Cardinal Otunga Girls High School in Bungoma.
She went to Kenya Polytechnic then later on moved to West London College where she studied Hotel Management and Tourism in 1994.
Yvonne graduated with a degree in Terrorism, Counter Terrorism and Extremism at the Murdoch University.
After the death of her husband (VP Michael Kijana Wamlawa) former president, Mwai Kibaki appointed Yvonne as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Habitat offices in Nairobi.
She served three years on the post and later was appointed as the Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya to Australia.
She is survived with two children, Michelle Chichi Wamalwa and Derric Mboya
