Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has told the national government not to reward elections losers with Cabinet posts but instead appoint those who have not participated in any election.
Speaking at Kaeset Primary School in Angurai South Ward during a funds drive in aid of the completion of Kaeset Anglican Church where Kshs 300,000 was raised, the Governor said voters have lost faith in such people.
“If a person loses an election he or she should return to the electorate and wait for the next elections since he was rejected,” he said.
Ojaamong said the shortage of water in Teso North was a concern that calls for concerted efforts by all leaders. “Although the African Development Bank water project was in the pipeline we cannot wait until after its completion. I will sit with area MCAs to have at least a water bowser bought for each Ward as a stop-gap measure as we wait for a permanent solution to the biting water shortage,” he said.
Awendo MP Walter Owino who was the Chief Guest said NASA MPs are still in a state of fear as they are still being hunted after their leader Raila Odinga was sworn in as the People’s President.
“If dialogue can make the country realize peace then be it. If the economy is bad the way it is all tribes will suffer. At the end of the day if we are affected up there it is ‘wananchi’ who will suffer,” he said.
Busia Woman representative Florence Mutua said they will not be cowed by threats of arrests. “We shall continue fighting to ensure an end to electoral injustices before the 2022 general election. The IEBC needs to conduct credible elections, as a result, election losers won’t rush to court. Most of them went to court after the August 8th elections without evidence, and will incur unbearable costs,” she said.
