Vihiga County employees have been warned against engaging in corrupt activities. Speaking during the launch of County News Letter at the County headquarters in Mbale, Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo gave a stern warning to civil servants who are bent on syphoning public funds through corrupt deals.
He said County resources are meant to benefit the locals who are paying taxes, and not to be swindled by a few individuals.
Residents pay taxes and they expect good services from the County Government, any civil servant who will be found engaging in corruption will be prosecuted,” said Ottichilo.
The County boss urged the senior civil servants to work closely with him to develop the County.
Ottichilo noted that the New letter will inform the locals on the projects that have been initiated by the County Government. “This document is very important. It will on a quarterly basis inform the residents what kind of projects have been initiated and their completion period,” he said.
He reiterated the importance of public participation adding that it’s mandatory for locals to be involved in any decision-making process in the County.
