“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” George Santayana writer and Philosopher

The President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga rapprochement (establishment of harmonious political relations) has unleashed seismic political realignments and spawned on the political landscape of Kenya beneficiaries and casualties

The NASA coalition is staring implosion or the acid test as to whether it was real coalition or a Raila Odinga contraption with inflated paper tigers of the other so called principals who as a matter of fact were junior partners in a Raila Odinga political machine.

Whither Musalia Mudavadi and Senator Moses Wetangula and the Luhyia voters who staked their presidential votes in 2017 August Presidential Election because they argued their two sons were in the inner sanctums of the then expectant Raila Odinga Presidency that never saw the light of the day.

We must as the Luhyia Nations study and restudy the political social and economic history of ourselves more pertinently since independence to date and also that of Kenya at large and the tribal subterranean forces that have shaped it to date and craft a winning path for this our generation and those to come.

Kenya post independence political history has been a contest between the Agikuyu tribe and the Luo tribe with other Kenyan tribes being supporting casts for either of the two and only the Kalenjin having broken that jinx through former President Moi’s shrewdness. The question is will Deputy President William Ruto manage to repeat Moi’s feat.

Kenya’s political landscape has equally been afflicted with Tyranny once the Agikuyu and the Luo combine forces and violence when the two tribes are at opposite political poles.

Will the President Uhuru Kenyatta Raila Odinga rapprochement spawn tyranny for Kenya or what? Time will shortly tell? Or will Raila Odinga like his late father shoot himself in the foot?

West Media has stated before that Agikuyu tribe and Luo tribe political superiority complex and sense of political entitlement in Kenya is a factor of their having at independence courtesy of Carey Francis and his headship of Maseno school from 1926 to 1940 and Alliance High School from 1940 to 1963 produced the highest concentration of educated Kikuyus and Luos who took over the political and economic reigns of power from the departing British Colonialist.

The Luhyia Nation to realistically contest for political power must revisit the question of how do they produce truly educated intellectuals commensurate with their population within the shortest time of a proportion of its sons and daughters to match or outstrip that of the two tribes. The Kikuyu, Luo outstrip most tribes in Kenya in the per capita of their sons and daughters who are educated since independence. Check your correct facts.

Hon. Raila Odinga humiliated the late Michael Wamalwa Kijana in 1996 when he walked away from Ford Kenya to form the National Development Party (NDP) even after Wamalwa led the Bukusu Nation in 1992 to vote for a man for Raila’s father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. For the record JaramogiOginga got the highest presidential votes in 1992 outside Luoland only in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia District then.

Senator Moses Wetangula in both 2013 and 2017 wasthe force that galvanized substantial votes Raila Odinga garnered in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia. Is it any wonder that those in these two Counties who had a sense of history did not trust Raila Odinga and betted on Musalia Mudavadi in 2013 and Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. Senator Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are ours. Their humiliation is our collective humiliation. We think they must be treated with respect and decorum even as political realignments shift.

The reconstruction of the homeland is our solemn duty. In defeat or otherwise we must keep our pride. We must start afresh to reconstruct our political trajectory so that we may rise from the indignity of being used and dumped. Things change. What we must not loose is our pride and self-belief. Let us not chart our future as we have done in the past casually. Let us appoint a commission to craft our destiny this time round.
