The status of the leadership of NASA in the Senate is set to be resolved within two weeks, according to NASA leader Raila Odinga. Addressing the press in Nairobi on Thursday after a meeting between NASA principals and the opposition Senators, Raila Odinga said the Senators are set to go on a retreat within 14 days, “We have agreed that Senators will go on a retreat within the next fourteen days to discuss the outstanding issues regarding operations in the Senate and to deal with contentious issues. They’ll report back to the NASA summit within two weeks,” he said.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s removal as the Senate Minority Leader had dominated discussions during a period when NASA affiliate parties were consistently voicing their displeasure with how ODM was handling affairs within the opposition outfit. The meeting led by Raila on Thursday acted as clear the air talks, and he said the Senators explained themselves frankly on the issues of the leadership in the Senate and that Moses Wetangula also had an opportunity to respond to some issues the Senators had.
The NASA chief further revealed that he had divulged the details of the MoU he signed with Presidnet Uhuru Kenyatta with the Senators, saying they are fine with the deal, “Senators have welcomed the MoU that was signed and have totally endorsed it,” said Raila. It remains to be seen what will be the outcome of the retreat and the decision which will be made concerning the Minority seat Leadership.
