Women leaders from West Pokot County have called on Kenyans to support the President Uhuru, Raila Odinga pact and urged Kenyans to rally behind the two leaders for the country to move on in the right direction.
They lauded the ongoing reconciliation initiative between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta that will heal the country, make the economy stable, cool political temperatures, promote peace and cohesion which was divided along tribal lines.
They condemned politicians who are against the new pact saying that the two leaders agreed to put their differences aside and work together for the sake of the country to realize development.
The leaders who spoke at Chepareria called upon all political leaders, religious and civil society organizations in the country to embrace the new national development.
Led by West Pokot women leaders Teresa Lokichu and Rodah Rotino, they said the country needs unity and reconciliation after a long political and electioneering period.
Furthermore, they urged President Kenyatta to appoint more leaders from the region to his cabinet, “We laud the President for appointing Education CAS Simon Kachapin, Devolution and Arid Areas Principal Secretary Micah Powon and Titus Lotee,” said Mrs. Rotino.
“We want the interests of women from Pokot land represented in the Cabinet. He should remember us,” said Mrs said Milka Losiaboi. They requested sitting leaders from the region to organize a meeting with President so that they can discuss their issues.
