A boda boda operator was brutally murdered by unknown assailants who made away with his motorbike at Furfural village, Kongoni location in Likuyani Sub County. Confirming the incident acting Nasianda location chief Martin Kwenyi said the deceased’s body which had visible injuries was found dumped along Eldoret–Kitale road near Furfural trading centre.
He said the body was discovered by a passer-by who was on his way to work at about 6 O’clock and later informed him of the incident. “I was informed of the incident by a man who was on his way to work and I rushed to the scene where I found the body of a middle-aged man with serious injuries dumped there,” said Mr. Kwenyi.
The local administrator said the deceased who lived in a rental house at Kongoni operated his business from Matunda market adding that nobody knew of his last movements before he was murdered.
He revealed that his killers made away with a new motorbike which was about two weeks old without a registration number. The local administrator urged boda boda riders in the area to take note of their passengers and also avoid operating at night in order to
enhance their security. “We have noted most incidents in which thugs attack and make away with motorbikes,” said Kwenyi.
He asked leaders in charge of all boda boda termini to provide record books where any person taking a boda boda motorbike after 6pm will have to register their names and national identity card or passport numbers.
“No boda boda operator should carry any individual who fails to produce required identification documents after the stipulated hour,” directed the administrator, who further warned against carrying more than one passenger.
