Residents of Kamukuywa market in Kimilili constituency are at ease after area MP Didmus Wekesa Barasa launched a water borehole drilling project that will be completed after two days to address the issue of water scarcity in the area.
Speaking at the site, Didmus said this comes after residents raised concerns over scarcity of water saying it will be an issue of the past as the water will be able to serve them fully with the borehole being drilled right at the market centre.
He disclosed that other market centres such as Makhonge and Chesamisi will also benefit as the project will be extended to those places, saying residents are entitled to clean water services and access.

Residents led by Joel Wanjala applauded the efforts of the MP saying previously residents had been promised different water projects costing millions of shillings that hadn’t come to fruition, adding that the ongoing project will benefit them.
They also called upon other leaders to emulate the steps taken by Didmus to implement projects saying it is only through the fulfilment of projects that the residents at the grass root level will be able to enjoy the fruits of government.
Women also praised the move saying they’ve suffered by travelling long distances to fetch water which has also not been clean enough for their own consumption.
